John is off and running for the Idaho House, District 33, seat B. Having first arrived in Idaho Falls more than 20 years ago, John knows well what Idaho Falls needs in the State Legislature.

Running for State Representative is serious business. John believes that the best representation comes from listening to as many people as possible about what they think is important. That's why he knocked on more than 6,000 doors in 2006 and is hard at it this year.

A small businessman, John has worked at the site, for manufacturing and consulting firms, and for his own consulting company. He knows how vital it is to leverage the tremendous assets we have in this area to bring in good paying jobs - jobs that complement our crown jewel, the INL, but are independent of it. That's why John paid his own way this spring to lobby House members for the bills that brought Areva to our area.

Family values include the desire for our children to have a better life than we have, and if they choose, to get an education here and to get one of those good paying jobs here. To that end John is a strong supporter of public education, and will work to help both local districts and the state Department of Education to redesign themselves to ensure that our children have the skills they need for the higher ed and vocational training necessary to fill those jobs. Higher education needs to be more accessible, building on the opportuniities provided at University Place and EITC.

Middle class families in Idaho Falls are struggling to keep up in our economy, and one of the biggest wildcards is healthcare. Health insurance coverage is getting more expensive, and covering less, and many families are one serious illness away from financial ruin. John believes that it's our collective responsibility to ensure all Idahoans have access to health services.

And what a difference two years makes! In 2006, starting from scratch, John received the second highest percentage for a Democratic candidate in 28 years, exceeded only by the success of our outstanding Representative Jerry Shively. This year, with your help, we will send another representative to Boise who brings a strong, independent, and progressive voice for Idaho Falls, rather than special interests or party bosses.

With your help, and with hard work, we'll ensure that the Legislature knows that Idaho Falls is interested in practical solutions, not political ideology.
